To-Do List for My Birthday

My thirty (something) birthday turned one special month-long celebration after all. I’d like to say I’m very blessed this year because I was able to go to a place that has been sitting long on my bucket list, got a very special gift from daughter and spent so much ME time in between.

Here are what I did for my birthday:

  1. Got a foot spa – Pimp My Nails did a worderful job at giving me a foot spa and mani/pedi. Brought along a photographer by the name of Sophia. Thanks sweetie J
got a gun metal nail color which so in right now (color is Awaken by  China Glaze)
  1. Got a massage – and an ultimate relaxing ME time. Although I’m partial to relfexology/chiropratic treatment because of my perennial back problem, I recently I  tried this Combi massage of Touch of Grace. More of that in my next posts.
  1. Got a salon moment – early this year I finally decided to have my long hair cut in layers and you know how layered hair can have a life of its own when not maintained. Since I really don't have time to blow dry or iron my hair everyday, I thought there's no other way but a rebond. After 4 hours or so in the salon, I finally got a well behaved hair. This is now my birthday look :)

  1. Had a proud mommy moment (again J)  - last Friday, we attended Sophie’s Moving Up Activity in school. Although, I’m quite aware that she is a candidate for Most Holistic Child, I didn’t expect anything because nothing is final until the culminating activity. To my extreme happiness, my little girl made it as 2nd Holistic Child! I'm so proud of my little girl. Hooray J
  1. Went on a trip to paradise – a place called Coron, Palawan! This is definitely one off my bucket list. The place is spectacular and awe-inspiring. I kept saying Wow! during the island tour that I started to irritate myself for lost of adjectives. I’ll share some pics later.
So there. I maybe a little broke right now from all that spending but who damn cares? Life is short, live to the fullest and enjoy every moment of pleasure. Haha! Carpe Diem! Just make sure you have money enough for the kids’ tuition fee and summer classes hihi J

p.s. I just realized now I placed so much smileys here. That’s how ecstatic I am right now… J

Mommy Moments: Dinner Date at Cafe Jeepney

Hubby and I had a post V-day celebration last February 27. As it's a rare occasion now that we get to spend time alone as husband and wife, I decided to take my hubby out for a buffet dinner for 2 at InterContinental Hotel's Cafe Jeepney :)
Cafe Jeepney in general is a very nice place to dine. The ambience is very cozy and unique, with Philippine jeepney (Sarao) being the inspiration for the interior design. Did you know that our pampasaherong jeep were made from the left overs of WWII military jeepneys? Filipinos found a good use for it as a public transport and had fun decorating it with imagination as the limit.

See? There's one wall decor that actually lights up :)

We got there early so we had time to take pictures. Buffet stations open at 630pm. There are several tables available when we dined considering it was a Sunday but I guess it's better to make an advance call for reservation just to be sure.
me in a cape blouse from Saga and necklace from Tomato.
We started off on the main menu where they served an array of oriental, Filipino and continental dishes. Some dishes were forgettable but I love the fish selection.

What we enjoyed in Cafe Jeepney, sushi bar! The options are not that much but what they have I really likey.

Salad bar. I only tried the cesar salad and it's sooo good.

The main attraction (for me, that is) the looong line of dessert station which is such a gastronomic delight. Make sure to leave a lot of room for dessert.

LOTD: Wedding Look

I recently attended a wedding of office colleagues and being it an outdoor (rainy) afternoon wedding, I decided to wear a pant suit to the occasion. Here's my outfit of that day:

My look inspiration (minus the cleavage)
The white blazer was a great snatch from a store in 168 in Tutuban; it's on sale (P175) so I bought it. Saan ka pa? :) Replaced the black buttons with crystal ones (P40 for a set of 4) to give it a classy touch. What I like about it is the tuxedo cut that falls above my hipline and perfect for my petite size.
The black sequined top is from Landmark and the satin pair of pants from SM. Not in photo is a pair of So Fab strappy shoes.
Except for the blazer, the rest of my outfit is not fairly new. I just bought them while on sale thinking that they're classic pieces and I'll have good use for them in time. I always believe in investing on classic pieces instead of spending so much on fad outfits.
Now for the myuk up, I went for the thick lash-red lips look. Bought a pair of false lashes from Landmark. Sa halagang P40.00 may makapal na pilik mata ka na that are easy to wash off  :)
A few days before the wedding, I ran out of Etude House BB cream and decided to try out Face Shop's HD Perfect BB Cream. This is P995, a little more expensive than other BB Creams but its SPF30 feature convinced me to buy. It has anti-aging minerals and perfect for combination to oily skin, super plus plus. It's also very practical, a small dot can go a long way. This served as my foundation.

See how that blended well on my skin? Loove it!
For the eyes, I applied Maybelline's beige base and bronze highlight as I was going for the nude eyelids. I  attached the false lashes and filled out the eyelids with liquid liner (to cover also the part where you placed the false lashes, for a 'cohesive' look). If you think the false lashes makes you look like a drag queen, feel free to trim it to a more natural length. I finished the eyes with 2 coats of Loreal Telescopic mascara.

My chinita eyes went round for a day with the false lashes and eye liner. Make sure to put just a little highlight at the bottom of the lid
For the blush, recently I got hooked with Fanny Serrano's makeup line. I started with his Light collection, the lip gloss that has 2 pin lights inside the handle, perfect for quick touch up inside the car. Then I moved on to buy the black liquid liner (P195) and blush (P3++). This is actually my second liquid liner pen (I think I overused the first one teehee!).
I found the blush a little more challenging to apply since it took me more time to blend compared to the regular coral blushes I use. Hint: if you're going for the red lips, make sure the blush is very minimal and the eyes look natural. One highlighted part of the face at a time or else...

I also applied NYC bronzer on the apple of the cheeks for depth and shimmer.
For the lips, I used Maybelline's Windsor Rose and Lustrous Lilac, both from the Moisture Rich collection.
So there, I never thought writing a beauty entry can be this hard. I enjoyed it nevertheless and I hope I shared something useful for all of you.

Field Trip to The Mind Museum

I was invited to the donor's preview of Mind Museum last February 11. As the invite said, digital marker for Sophie and Sam's star will not be viewed until its grand opening on March 16, I decided to go alone and check out the place first. Good thing I didn't bring the kids yet, there were several areas in the museum still under development/construction.
Nevertheless, what I saw and experienced was enough for me to tell you that this place really rocks! I am already imagining this to be a place swamped with kids on a field trip or a family on an outing. I can't wait for my kids to see the first T-Rex exhibit in the country or go star gazing or travel through light tunnel.

Here are some pics to share to you:

Aedi welcomes guests entering the museum

press the button to see the different phases of the moon.

an awesome interpretation of the planets

this area carries everything about fossils and Stan is the main attraction.

life size diorama of man's evolution

In Life Gallery, I enjoyed looking over these massive displays.

The whole time I was in this room, I was imagining the scene from Night At The Museum. What if all these creatures come to life? Eeeks!

then when you get to this area, you get to touch all these soft, squeezy and rather weird microorganisms.

here is a sample look at a 3D element. This is interesting but maybe they can change the sample animation on screen to make viewing more effective.

There's just so much to see in Mind Museum. The pictures above were all taken from the 1st level of the museum. Ongoing construction is also the Science-in-the-Park where there will be four play pockets: Water, Math, Music, and Living Pockets.
I can go on and on but there's no greater experience than to actually see and touch them for yourselves.

Mind Museum officially opens to public on March 16, 2012. For tickets and schedules, please log on to: http://tickets.themindmuseum.org/

Can't wait to go back to this place with my family :)

Progressive School : Wiz Kid Quiz Show

Last February 29, my daughter's school held a Wiz Kid Quiz Show. Almost all students participated in the event and parents were encouraged to watch. Hubby and I took the morning off from work to attend this event.

The kinder level getting ready for the first question.
Questions ranged from math, science to civic and culture, language, spatial, etc. and were categorized as Easy, Average and Difficult questions. The questions were flashed on a projector screen and read to the students as well. The students wrote the correct answer on the paper provided. At times up, the teachers/teacher aids checked the answers of each student and showed a sign to the tabulator if the answer is wrong, right or no answer. They do not verbalize the result as this may frustrate kids to go on with the quiz show.

At the end of the quiz bee, guess who won? My daughter Sophia! She's the Wiz Kid 2012 Kinder Level.

Proudest Mommy moment for me really :) When hubby and I were driving back to work after the contest, we were still in awe that our little girl won. It is at this point in my life when I thought, "I must've done something right. "

She also got certificates for subjects like civic and culture and science for having one of the highest points.
For the per subject category prizes, since quite a number of students got high points there were tie breaker questions and Yay! she was able to answer the questions too! (tsimis to, the boy in red gave him a rose last Valentine's day. I found it cute, the dad was furious. haha!)

With proud parents. Sulit na sulit and half day leave namin :)

With her teacher Cath who guided them during review sessions. Thanks T. Cath :)

The little girl can't get enough of her very first medal that she slept with it that night. Haha!
Congratulations again to our little princess. We are so proud of you! :)
